Each of these schools promotes the mission and vision of Catholic Education and strives to create a dynamic welcoming community where each child is treasured and challenged to develop holistically.  The school staff works together with home and parish to foster the faith development of the pupils.

Each school uses the Alive-O’ programme as its principal resource for Religious Education.  Supplementary material can be recommended by the Religious Education Office.

The pupils are also prepared, in co-operation with the parish, to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation, normally during P3 and P4.

The Diocesan Adviser for Primary Schools is Mrs Brid O’Brien who is available to support the work of Religious Education at Primary School level.  She works closely with other diocesan agencies such as those responsible for youth, liturgy, pastoral and social care to ensure that the mission of the Catholic School is sustained and supported within the wider context of diocesan life.

Sr Christine Triay works closely with Brid in liaising with the Primary School Community.  Both are involved in a new initiative which will see them offering school-based CPD and Faith Encouragement Sessions in the following 8 areas which were prioritized by the schools themselves:

*Creativity and Imagination in Primary Catechesis.

* Other World Religions.

* Approaches to Major Liturgical Feasts.

*Approaches to Prayer in Primary Catechesis.

* Retreats for Pupils.

* Time and space to explore issues surrounding our Catholic Faith.

* Time and space to explore ways of nourishing our spiritual and personal lives.

* Ways of praying in daily life/Retreats for school staff.

They both look forward to this new collaboration between themselves and the schools.
