DOUBLE ORDINATION JOY Archbishop Leo Cushley of St Andrews & Edinburgh says a vocation to the priesthood is a path to happiness and fulfilment for those who respond generously to the call.
“Throughout my own life, I have found priests to be among the happiest, most fulfilled, most dedicated people I know, and I am proud to be one of them. There’s nothing quite like it, and I mean that in a good way,” said Archbishop Cushley, 24 June 2016.

Archdiocesan Lourdes Day 
Sunday 29 May, Edinburgh
The Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh inaugural Lourdes Day will take place at 3pm on Sunday 29 May with a Marian procession through the streets of Edinburgh followed by Solemn Benediction and the blessing of the sick. The event is organised by the Archdiocese’s Lourdes Pilgrimage Group, The Edinburgh Hospitalité. Their aim is to recreate the spirit of Lourdes within our own Archdiocese.

Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome
Archbishop Leo Cushley hopes that anybody joining him on his Jubilee Year of Mercy Pilgrimage to Rome (16 – 23 November 2016) will enjoy a “happy, holy and fun” experience. “I hope to take a number of pilgrims from the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh with me to Rome to meet the Holy Father and to celebrate the end of this great Year of Mercy,” said Archbishop Cushley adding “I hope it would be a happy time, a holy time and great fun as well.”

WORLD YOUTH DAY 2016 - Kraków  
Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh WYD to Kraków, Poland, 22 July to 3 August 2016
There are only 15 places left on the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh Pilgrimage to World Youth Day 2016 in the Polish city of Kraków. One person who has already booked his place is Bobby Taylor from Galashiels. “World Youth Day is a really great experience – to be in an environment where there are so many other young Catholics is such an uplifting experience,” says Bobby who has also attended World Youth Day in Toronto in 2002 and Madrid in 2011. “It’s also a lot easier to get to World Youth Day when it’s in Europe, it’s definitely worth the effort.”

We Have Found the Messiah: The Future of Our Archdiocese
On Palm Sunday 2015, Archbishop Leo Cushley unveiled his vision for the future of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh in a pastoral letter entitled We Have Found the Messiah.   The title is taken from the exclamation of the young St Andrew upon meeting Jesus Christ for the first time. As part of a bid to communicate his proposal to the widest audience, Archbishop Cushley also commissioned a short explanatory film.   To view the film click here.
