Ukranian Jubilee
The Cardinal received a traditional Ukranian welcome when he attended a Mass to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Fr Lubomyr Pidluskyj on Monday 19th December.

Father Lubomyr Pidluskyj, the Chaplain to the Ukrainian Community in Scotland and the North of England, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of his Ordination to the Priesthood in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of Our Lady of Pochaev and St Andrew on Monday 19th December 2011. The principal celebrant at the Thanksgiving Mass was Bishop Hlib Lonchyka, the Apostolic Exarch for Ukrainians in Great Britain, with other concelebrants being Polish priests assisting this ministry in England. Cardinal O’Brien presided at the Thanksgiving Mass, along with Monsignor Michael Regan, the Administrator of St Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh, and Canon John Creanor, Parish Priest of Our Lady and St Andrew’s, Galashiels, where the Canon assists with the spiritual care of the Ukrainian Community in the Borders. |
