FATIMA PILGRIMAGE 2017: Archbishop Leo Cushley is delighted to invite you and your family to join him on this year's Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh Pilgrimage to Fatima in Portugal, 19 - 26 October 2017. BUILDING A CULTURE OF LIFE: Prayer is the most powerful resource in building a culture of life, said Archbishop Leo Cushley to the pro-life activists of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh upon the Feast of the Holy Innocents. “Today we come to pray. A LIVING TRIBUTE TO MONSIGNOR GEMMELL: Archbishop Leo Cushley recently paid a special visit to L’Arche community in Edinburgh’s Restalrig which is dedicated to the memory of Monsignor David Gemmell, the former Administrator of St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral, who died in 2008. “Here at Monsignor David’s House we have assistants and ‘core members’, that’s people with learning disabilities, living together, sharing life, prayer and community,” explained Community Leader, Mike Noonan, 21 December. NEW SOCIAL OUTREACH INITIATIVE LAUNCHED: The Archbishop of St Andrews & Edinburgh has marked Scotland’s national day by launching a new social outreach initiative, Caritas Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh. “Scotland is a country of great peace and prosperity, beauty and bounty, and yet ours is also a land where too many go without: without opportunity, without dignity, without hope,” said Archbishop Leo Cushley, 30 November, St Andrew’s Day. HOLY MASS & CONFESSION FINDER APP LAUNCH: Beneath the dome of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome and amid the skirl of the Scottish bagpipes, Archbishop Leo Cushley of St Andrews & Edinburgh has unveiled what is thought to be the world’s first interactive, GPS-powered, Holy Mass and Confession finder app. “This is a little bit of smart technology that could make a big impact on how the the Catholic Church brings the mercy of God and the joy of the Gospel to our contemporary world,” said the Archbishop, Tuesday 23 November in Rome.
